A new informative and relaxing day out. We begin by visiting the picturesque Yarramalong Valley and Hinterland of the Central Coast breaking for morning tea at Mangrove Mountain Dam (catchment for the Central Coast). Following the Old Northern Road through Buckety to Laguna our next appointment is Historic Mulla Villa Homestead (1840) convict built for the first police magistrate and his wife. Here we enjoy a scrumtuous 2 course lunch, whilst capturing the imagination of the once early settlers to the valley. A little furter on we stop at the quaint village of Wollombi, where many Hunter familiescan trace their history.

The Great North Road is a 240km convict-built masterpiece constructed between 1826 and 1836 to provide an overland route from Sydney to Newcastle and the Hunter Valley.

It remains one of the most impressive engineering feats of Australia's convict era. Much of the road has since become a secondary road but still remains an important route today. It is also popular as a scenic drive as we pass through historic Wollombi & St Albans.
